Superstore & Mall, West Midlands

Superstore & Mall, West Midlands

Project: Tesco, The Crown Centre, Stourbridge

System: Siphonic roof drainage system design and installation

Date: Completed June 2013

Tesco’s vision was to re- develop the existing Crown Shopping Centre into a state- of- the- art Tesco store and mall and Siphonic Solutions are proud to have help made this happen.

Tesco’s £30million conversion of the Crown Centre to a brand new store and shopping mall meant the buildings needed to fit with the town centre surroundings, next to a grade II listed building. This meant the appearance was vital and logistics of the installation had to be carefully considered.

The new- build required a flexible drainage system which could siphon rainwater efficiently from the roof, without compromising the aesthetic appeal of the building. Our design technician, draughtsman and rainwater consultant worked with our director who met with the client and surveyed the site, in order to create the best practical solution for the building’s and the client’s requirements. Health and safety was managed through Doncaster Maintenance. Construction was carried out under the requirements of Design and Management Regulations 2007.

Siphonic Solutions installed a siphonic drainage system where efficient design meant only seven downpipes were required for the whole build. With careful attention to detail, calculations and planning, Siphonic Solutions achieved the client’s vision and created a visually and technically suitable system.

Tesco needed a contractor they could trust with their new development at the Crown Centre site... another project completed on time and to costs by Siphonic Solutions.

Waste Treatment Site, Avonmouth

Waste Treatment Site, Avonmouth

Project: New Earth Solutions Group Ltd, Avonmouth

System: Energy Building Valley gutter Stainless steel siphonic roof drainage refurbishment

Date: Completed March 2013

New Earth Solutions are renewable energy specialists who take an environmentally – friendly approach to business and expect the same standards from their contractors. Siphonic Solutions won this contract on account of being knowledgeable, flexible and vitally- value for money.

This building had an existing siphonic system in place which was leaking considerably and was not suitable for the high temperatures for waste energy recycling. Therefore not only was a new and improved system essential, it was needed urgently.

Siphonic Solutions were on hand to offer solutions and complete the project in a timely manner. In addition to the specific rainwater calculations, the design had to suit the high temperatures within the plant. Our design technician, draughtsman and rainwater consultant worked with our director who met with the client and surveyed the site, in order to create the best practical solution for the building’s and the client’s requirements. Team meetings with site operatives ensured the process was scheduled and ran smoothly. Health and safety matters were taken care of through surveys and our documentation, along with the help of our professional consultant.

The siphonic system was completely re- designed to optimise its functioning. Siphonic Solutions suggested an upgraded siphonic pipework system made from stainless steel be installed which would cope with high temperatures, be efficient and cost – effective. Disruption to premises can often mean disruption to business, but Siphonic Solutions planned the project so that the roof drainage would continue to work during the refurbishment works. Site managers managed the health and safety matters and the project was completed on time, within the budgeted costs.

Retail Park, Greater London

Retail Park, Greater London

Project: Cork Tree Retail Park, Chingford

System: Repair and renovation of existing system and addition of new high level overflow systems

Date: Completed May 2012

The overall project aim was to completely refurbish the retail park which consisted of more than six different stores. The roof drainage was a priority as the proprietors were experiencing severe leaks throughout the park, causing damage, disruption and hazards. Siphonic Solutions dealt with the works efficiently, ensuring the client requirements were fulfilled.

The remedials included in- depth survey and subsequent replacement of high quality outlets, pipework, tailpipes and joints to the system as well as other components. Siphonic Solutions replaced all main system siphonic gutter outlets and tailpipes. Tailpipes were specifically designed and welded into new branch connections. The existing system also required; repairs to certain components and re- bracketing of siphonic downpipes.

Siphonic Solutions coordinated the works to maximise time, as all of the installation works were undertaken in out of hour’s times to ensure continued trade in the outlets.
